I am an on-location, natural-light photographer based in Denver, Colorado. I am the wife to an amazing husband and a mom of two adorable little boys. My family is my treasure. I am continually inspired by my sons and love to photograph them, always looking for creative new ways to capture the beauty in the little moments that make up our everyday life.
I grew up in a tight-knit Italian-American family with an emphasis on togetherness, celebrations and traditions. No matter what the occasion, someone always had a camera in hand, ready to capture the moment (which often involved meals, as you can well imagine!). This fondness for documenting life through photography deeply influenced me as a child and young adult.
I have always loved taking photographs, but I discovered my true passion for newborn and child photography through my journey of becoming a mother. In fact, I wholeheartedly credit my firstborn son with making me into the photographer I am today. When he was two years old, I took the plunge and purchased my first DSLR, and from that point forward, he became my muse and daily subject. I was captivated by the wonder and innocence of his toddler years and wanted to document his every adventure and milestone. Once my second son was born, I quickly became enchanted with the beauty and challenge of newborn photography. I continued studying photography, attending classes and workshops, and practicing on my own children until I started to get requests from friends for photo shoots. I decided to officially open Shanna Nichole Photography in 2013.
I have had numerous experiences in my own life that serve as reminders to make the most out of the present moment and to find the joy in the ordinary details, which are often the most beautiful and memorable. I consider photography a gift to help me preserve these moments and hold onto them a little longer. I know too well how quickly our children grow and change, and how our families continue to evolve. I take joy in capturing all of these moments for my clients—the big, the little and the in-between, and would be honored to capture them for you and your family as well.
I love smiles, but I am also drawn to more serious and emotive expressions, especially in children. My end goal is to convey your child’s authentic personality and document the connections between your family members, because that is how you view and appreciate your loved ones as well. And after all, these are your moments and memories, and I want you to cherish them for years to come.
